Title: Trust
Size: 84cm x 59cm 2.5cm deep
Medium: Acrylic on Cradled Panel
The ethereal charm of Amelanchier blossoms dancing through luminous amber foliage inspired this evocative painting. Soft peachy pinks and pastel blues merge beneath a rosy, dappled sky, creating layers of refined beauty.
Delicate white petals emerge against curling leaves, while warm, hopeful tones infuse the composition with understated elegance. Trust captures the essence of spring's gentle awakening, offering a sophisticated focal point that brings serene warmth and contemplative grace to any interior space.
The story behind the painting: Spring is a constant reminder that however dark things get, light, energy & beauty will return to the world. Nature exploding with vigour & joy. Each tree more resplendent with each year. It always makes me think of youth & even more so children.
I painted with thoughts of the trust we need to have in our young. They trust us when in difficulty to be there for them & we trust that they will grow & learn what they need to create a wonderful life. We want to be able to wave a magic wand & make their troubles disappear, heal their wounds, but if we did that they would never become resilient or find their own path.
I have watched my son live through heartbreak, betrayal & lies. He’d been in a relationship which was intense & all consuming , with a narcissistic & self absorbed girl who he had nurtured, supported & ignored the red flags which should have made him run a mile. His kindness & positive heart made him believe that issues could be solved but I watched his light dim & his vitality go as he was drained by her needy & cloying self absorption. Gaslit, to the point that he started questioning himself, it all ended in a huge drama as she created a scene on his birthday because she couldn’t stand the attention being on him.
As a Mother, I had to let him make his own choices & trust he would work out what was right. My boy is loyal to a fault, so he felt he was losing a dream & a future, not just a girl. The pain he was in tore at my soul & all I could do was to hold him in his grief & trust I had instilled in him self assurance & strength of character to get through this. I watched him go through the process, of despair, sadness, loss then anger & disbelief & finally to realisation & peace.
He’s now happier, stronger, will never again be blind to bad behaviour & toxic issues. I’m so proud of him. Happy he could process this quickly & use the tools I’d been handing him all of his life & trust me when I said ‘this will pass, I’ve got you’. With loyal friends around, he got through it blossom even brighter.
And of course, with these vital life lessons learnt he found real, genuine & beautiul relationship with a special girl who deserves his love.
We just have to trust & watch our young blossom as they grow.
