Experience a tranquil oasis with this small meadow painting, featuring delicate umbell flowers o wild carrot in soft greens and yellows, growing beneath a dappled chestnut tree. The branches filter the evening light, creating enchanting patterns on the grasses and wildflowers. This painting adds a touch of serenity to any space and transports you to a dreamy world of nature. The soothing blend of green, blue, and yellow tones creates a peaceful ambiance, perfect for brightening even the smallest of spaces.
As with so many of my paintings, the depth of layers & glazes don't really translate well online. In reality there is more softness & translence & the flowers have areas of light & shade. The most realistic representation is probably the image with the painting on the grass where i painted it.
This little painting taught me a valuable lesson as I painted it. I’ve painting some smaller pieces recently, which to be honest I find harder than the great big ones I usually do. Like in all areas of my life, I hate to be confined or restricted, so a little canvas can be a challenge.
I’d been working on this & two other little ones for a week & was at the point of giving up at one point. I actually brought out a big canvas with the intention of moving on to that. But then I stopped or a moment & realised I would have wasted all that time if I didn’t finish it. What I did was to just let go of wanting to get it perfect, which released the angst, which allowed me to enjoy it & just keep painting without any attachment to the outcome. An hour later, it transformed & I love the result.
There are so many areas in life that letting go & releasing yourself from wanting a certain outcome, anxiety or expectations can totally change the outcome. It frees you up to just be in the moment & not hang on to worries or wants. That freedom opens doors to exciting new possibilities.. or to just getting something finished!
The relaxation this brings is reflected in the colours & mood of the painting, which takes you away to a summer evening lying in a meadow.
