About this painting: Down below the rock garden at RHS Wisley is an area known as Oakwood. Numerous little paths meander in amongst the trees & flower beds. Here & there you can find a bench & sit in the dappled shade & rest. It's from one of those benches that I sketched this path disappearing around a hidden corner to the light beyond. The original painting in Oil on canvas was a commissioned piece, painted for a couple whose favourite spot this had been over the years. Capturing the memories of quiet peace for them to have permanently on the wall opposite heir bed was a joy, as I found that same calm sitting there sketching. A host of white Camasia surround the silver birch & Alliums pop their heads above the undergrowth, demanding their moment of attention & the dapples of sunlight breaking trough the trees.
