About this painting: connection is a soft, dreamy painting in pastel tones. Dandelion seed heads let their fairy parachutes drift off gently in the breeze. The painting radiates a calm energy & sense of peace.

it was painted over the 16 days of Devon Open studios, with people visiting my home gallery & studio. Over the years, as many artists do, I have had doubts, insecurity, frustration a sense of struggle to feel my work is whatI want it to be. It’s really in the past 5 years that I’ve gained the confidence to trust that my work supports my home & family. The two weeks of DOS have given me so much joy & a gentle confidence that I’m on the right path. People connected so powerfully with my paintings that there were quite a few happy & moved tears & a real sense of them genuinely feeling what I put into them.

As the years have moved forward, I have become more content with my own company & don’t feel the need to be out socialising very much. But isswhen you have such connection through your work with another person, there is often a feeling that you’ve  new friends. So, as I put down my brushes & stood back from my dandelion painting, I was full of good feel positive thoughts & a little smile on my face .

Connection with others can come in so many forms. The deep connection of family & friendships. The brief encounters of a shared smile & a few kind words to a stranger. These days the power of being able to connect with people all around the world via technology also has importance.. each of us chooses how much connection we want & when, but that special link with others is part of the beauty of life.

I send my dandelion seeds drifting off into the world, connecting with those who can see the beauty in such simple things.
