The story behind the painting: 'Beyond' started its journey over the week of my 60th Birthday, when many strange & mysterious signs appeared in my life. Each of these recent decades has had significant impact on my life & this one is no exception.

It turned out that the years biggest supermoon appeared on the night of my birthday  & every moment stories, prophecies & words of wisdom popped up on every media  I opened. They told of a time of deep reflection, realignment of my deepest beliefs & an opportunity to step into a new era of my life.

Then out of the blue I was contacted by two significant figures from my past. The first someone who had been my best friend for nearly 20 years, who 10 years ago suddenly & unexplainably ghosted me. Having retired to my part of the world, she wanted to communicate again, without a whisper of mentioning the past years of silence. Initially sucked in with my usual waggy tailed enthusiasm, I realised quickly that this was the Universe sending me a little test to see if I had learnt the lessons it wanted me to learn

The long & short of it was that I gently & kindly sent good wishes for her retirement, but that I didn't want to rekindle our friendship. Thinking back, it had been pretty toxic, one of those where there was a lot of giving from my end & a lot of taking from the other. Having the courage to walk away felt liberating & confirmed my commitment to living a peaceful & quiet life.

The second was a real humdinger (which I will write a blog piece about shortly). Basically the first most significant relationship of my life & one which defined every one I had from then on. It was where i had cemented the limiting belief in my mind that I was 'unloveable & not good enough'. A belief which has led to so much trauma & sadness over the years.

But through this communication I discovered that maybe I had been wrong all along & this man had loved me then. So if my limiting beliefs came from something which wasn't actually real..then where does that leave me now?

The answer is that it has taken me Beyond being held back by these things, Beyond being made small by the whispering voices from my past. Who knows where that can take me now?

We all have these thoughts which take away our ability to truly grow & flourish in life. And if we can find ways of going beyond them, we can finally live at peace with ourselves & venture into a new way of being
