About this painting; Quickening is a big flower painting of white Spring blossoms on a sun dappled green background. As the Spring energy rises, touches of brighter greens emerge & bring hope to the world. The renewing of life every Spring makes me think of how we too can restart & reinvent our lives. The past is the past & is wiped away as each day goes by, so we can decide in every moment to do things in new ways, make things better, move forward. If it doesn’t work out right now in this day, we can always start again the next. Wipe the slate, don’t dwell, just try again & keep new ideas inspiring actions.

Too often we get stuck & if things are not going well we can sink into the glue of heavy thoughts. But if we, like Nature, keep changing & unveiling every day we can blossom & bloom.

Quickening was initially painted a few years ago, but I was never happy with it. Something about the original composition bothered me & I just walked past it each day liking the idea of the painting but not what it actually was. It’s taken a long time, but I finally picked it up this week & reworked it, adding a lot more blossom & dappled light.
🌿Painting Quickening brought a feeling of calm natural energy, the essence of Spring rising & bringing a positive light to these strange times. I found myself in a deep state of acceptance & gratitude for the opportunity to spend this quiet, contemplative time going inwards & finding the inner well of peaceful solitude  which this time has given us.

Green is the colour of rebirth, of new beginnings & my sincere wish is that we can emerge from lockdown having a deeper appreciation of nature,our loved ones & our ow  strength & resilience.
