About this painting: Passages II was painted to complement Passages as part of 3 paintings going to a client to hang on a large wall. The Golden garden meadow overflows with ochre grasses, Phlomis seed heads & Gaura flowers in translucent layers of warm , dreamy tones.

The story behind the passages triptych is all about the meditative process behind the creation of this painting took my mind languid days of sunshine, the fragrance of the meadow warm on the breeze. As the bright colours of high summer fade to gold, umbers & browns in the layered seed heads of Phlomis. while Gaura spread their spinly fronds amongst the grasses with delicate points of white & pink tiny blooms.

Winter can be hard, lockdown even more so & as the weeks roll on without the ability to roam freely through gardens & countryside bringing the freedom of the outdoors in becomes more vital. the free wildness of these meadow gardens remind me that nurturing myself, being grateful for what I have & chering the good things about this time, sows the seeds of fruitfulness & abundance for the future. if I can find joy at the hardest of times then the cherished freedoms we are missing will be even more amazing appreciated when we reclaim them
