A Special Commission.
During May, I was honoured to create a very unique commissioned painting. My client has been battling Cancer for many years & had an incredible attitude to beating this vile disease. She took her journey as something which made her stronger & more empowered in her life.
Her body, ravaged by multiple scars, she compared to the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which takes broken precious china & puts it back together using veins of gold, making the finished piece even more beautiful than the original. The Wren held significance in her life too as did cherry blossom which represents rebirth & new beginnings.
With a complicated brief, I had to work very intuitively & recognised that her three daughters were her reason for living. I incorporate the three little wrens into a heart of light at the center of the blossom painting, with golden Kinstugi radiating out into the darker surroundings.
The tears & joy with which the finished painting was received was such a humbling experience & touched me in many ways.
I have 3 commission slots left for this year. so if you would like a very special piece of art which tells your story, captures a precious memory or celebrates an occasion, please just respond to this email for further details & to share your ideas.
